What is Massive Weight Loss?

Obesity is considered an epidemic disease of the modern Western world, and its rates in various developed countries can exceed 30%. In addition to the aesthetic and functional effects of obesity, hypertension and diabetes may appear at a younger age.

To address this epidemic, a new category of surgeries has emerged called bariatric surgery. It includes procedures that reduce stomach size, bypass parts of the intestine, or both, to increase the feeling of fullness and decrease absorption of nutrients. These procedures make it possible to lose significant weight in a short period while maintaining a stable reduced weight for many years. It is worth noting that similar results can sometimes be achieved through dietary support and lifestyle changes, as well as with medications that promise significant help in weight loss.

Patients with massive weight loss exhibit skin laxity in many areas of the body, which affects comfort, mobility, and self-confidence. To address this, extensive surgical procedures called dermolipectomies are required. This has created a whole separate category of procedures called post-bariatric surgery or surgery after massive weight loss.

Each treatment plan is individualized to meet the unique needs and goals of the patient, offering both physical and psychological benefits as the final step in the weight loss journey.

Abdominoplasty

Breast Lift

Restores the shape and position of the breasts that may have sagged due to weight loss. Often combined with breast augmentation for a more enhanced result.

Types of Massive Weight Loss Surgeries

Addresses skin laxity in the face and neck, which may result from significant weight loss.

Face and Neck Lift

Back Lift

A combined procedure that includes abdominoplasty, buttock lift, and in some cases thigh lift. It addresses the entire midsection of the body in a single surgery.

Removal of excess skin and tightening of tissues in the buttock area for a firmer and more youthful appearance.

Brachioplasty

Lower Body Lift

Buttock Lift

Each case is unique, so the surgeon selects the appropriate procedures or combinations based on the patient’s needs and goals. In some cases, multiple areas are treated in a single surgery, adopting a holistic approach.

How the procedure is performed

  • Individualized Plan: A plan is created based on your goals and medical history.

Recovery After the Procedure

  • Hospitalization: 1–3 days for monitoring.
